The Quest for Beatnik samples (…?)

Haven’t posted here in a while, but thanks to  iDog Hacker  during a recent project of theirs, I found out that some of the Leap-font’s samples were made in a software known as Beatnik. I’m thinking that this is the same as the software that introduced the Rich Media Format (RMF for short) and the miniBAE sequencer, used in the WebTV and several Nokia cell phones. And now I’m currently searching for the bank or other things they used with Beatnik. Help would be appreciated, but please subscribe to iDog hacker’s YouTube channel since they are also researching the Leap-font and are working hard to reverse engineer the Leapster and told me one of the origins of some of the samples!

V. Smile SF2 Demo

Here's a demo of the V. Smile SF2 I've mostly finished, so everyone can hear how it sounds currently. It uses the Basics in Behavior MIDI from one of my previous posts.  Demo

Music... Things.

April's getting closer, so why don't I talk about more audio-related things I've been up to in the past months? • V. Smile Soundfont Since about a month ago, I've been collecting V. Smile ROMs to rip instruments from with iDog Hacker's "V.Ripper" Python script. The soundfont needs a bit of polishing, but I'll probably upload it some time around April. •  MIDIs I haven't talked about this much, but I usually make MIDI transcriptions of certain songs (mostly ringtones or meme music). I'm currently brainstorming of ways to share them, so stay tuned. • Messing around with CMX Studio Ever since I heard of Qualcomm's CMX Studio software via Old Phone Preservation's Twitter, I've started messing around with it and scrapped the idea of a CMX SF2. That's all I have for now, so stay tuned for the next blog post!

HQ Leap-font Shenanigans

Ever since I found the source of some of the samples that were used in the Odyssey Globe soundbank (Leap-font), I have wanted to look for the rest of the samples since. Here's demos of the soundfont currently using a Basics in Behavior MIDI. Loops the original soundfont used Loops the samples from the original source used I'm currently working on it some more and looking for more sources, so stay tuned!

Attempting AUX recordings from my old phones

For a while I've tried ripping audio from my Huawei U3900 through its 3.5mm headphone jack. It's a little tedious to get the setup working but I managed to get audio of my Yamaha MA Sound Demo 035 MIDI transcription playing on its CMX bank. Audio The buzzing is coming from my cheap PC's aux jack, so it doesn't sound so good.
